Deadline for submissions: 15 April 2026
The Committee on World Food Security (CFS) launched a call to contribute to its upcoming monitoring exercise by sharing experiences, lessons learned, good practices and challenges related to the use and application of the following CFS policy recommendations:
- How to Increase Food Security and Smallholder-Sensitive Investments in Agriculture (2011);
- Investing in Smallholder Agriculture for Food Security and Nutrition (2013);
- Connecting Smallholders to Markets (2016);
- Promoting Youth Engagement and Employment in Agriculture and Food Systems for Food Security and Nutrition (2022).
Contributions will help take stock of progress and inform the Global Thematic Event (GTE) on Empowering Family Farmers to strengthen sustainable food systems and to achieve food security and nutrition which will take place at CFS 54 in October 2026, as a contribution to the objectives of the UN Decade of Family Farming (2019–2028) and CFS’s ongoing work on monitoring the uptake of its policy products.
This GTE will foster dialogue through insights, experiences, and best practices on the application of the CFS Policy Recommendations to enrich discussions during the Plenary Session.
CSIPM Contribution
For the CSIPM, it has been a key priority advancing and defending public policies that strengthen small-scale agriculture and the rights and livelihoods of small-scale food producers. In 2019, the monitoring report Towards Smallholder-oriented Public Policies already warned of the alarming lack of recognition of the fundamental role of those who, from their territories, feed the world.
The CFS monitoring exercise in 2026 represents a key opportunity to make visible the analyses, struggles, and proposals emerging from territories, and to inform global debates that could guide policies impacting those who feed us.
For this reason, the CSIPM invites organizations and movements to contribute to the preparation of a collective input. To contribute, please contact the Secretariat at cso4cfs@gmail.com and join the CSIPM Working Groups by completing the following form: https://www.csm4cfs.org/policy-working-groups/join-the-working-groups/
