The Committee on World Food Security (CFS) launched a workstream on Collaborative Governance for Coordinated Policy Responses to emerging global food crises towards sustainable agriculture and food system transformation. Part of its CFS Multi-Year Programme of Work 2024–2027, the workstream aims to foster dialogue around the evolving food security and nutrition situation.
The CFS will host biannual meetings to share knowledge, data, and solutions with the goal of improving policy coordination and strengthening collaborative governance. These meetings will prioritise the voices of the most affected countries and constituencies.
The first meeting of 2025 will focus on financing for food security and nutrition, with a particular focus on debt management. As it has been identified, a high level of public debt can present a barrier for countries to invest in social safety nets for the most vulnerable or support the agricultural sector.
