2024: An urgent call to demand justice, defend the right to food, and realize food sovereignty.

The year 2024 followed the trend we have seen in recent years and was a challenging period for human rights in many areas. Day after day, the headlines were filled with tragedy, despair and death. With great concern, civil society and Indigenous Peoples witnessed a growing disconnection between lived realities and political discourse. Inaction and the lack of an effective global response have also plunged the UN into adeep crisis of credibility.

Even in the face of this adverse context, peoples’ movements and civil society organizations that participate in the CSIPM continue to mobilize, driven by the hope grounded in the struggles and the experience that collective action can transform our food systems.

This annual report shows how, in the face of an increase in inhumane wars that extinguish the life and hope of entire peoples, the CSIPM raised its voice in defense of respect for life, demanding that the international community act immediately to stop the use of hunger as a weapon of war.
