The Civil Society and Indigenous Peoples’ Mechanism (CSIPM) for relations with the CFS warmly welcomes the new Secretariat Coordinator, Hernando Salcedo Fidalgo, from Colombia.
Based on the public vacancy announcement, he was selected among several candidates by the Selection Committee and the Coordination Committee of the CSIPM. He will start his position on 1st October 2022.
Hernando Salcedo Fidalgo is a defender of human rights and of the right to adequate food and nutrition. He is a member of FIAN Colombia, where he has been the coordinator of the nutrition line. In his work as a doctor and university professor, he has been close to community health and food processes and has led the fight against corporate capture by the food industry in Colombia. He has worked on the construction of contemporary knowledge, based on the articulation of ancestral and scientific knowledge, in order to act in the face of the planetary crisis. He recently participated in a project between Colombia and Uganda for food sovereignty from a South-South perspective, putting in dialogue the main actors of nutritional care in the territories.
The outgoing Secretariat Coordinator, Martin Wolpold-Bosien, will conclude his work by the end of October 2022, after a joint handover period with Hernando.
